BREAKING NEWS: Texas Exports First Shipment of LNG

The Lone Star State is now an exporter of liquefied natural gas.

A tanker named the Maria Express left Cheniere Energy’s Port of Corpus Christi facility with the terminal’s first cargo of LNG on Tuesday morning. The destination is not immediately known, but the voyage marks the first LNG export shipment from Texas.

“The Lone Star State continues to lead the nation in natural gas production, and today’s announcement is another historic development for the Texas energy industry,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement. “Cheniere’s first LNG shipment from Texas represents years of hard work and collaboration that not only benefits our state’s economy, but also unleashes Texas energy to the rest of the world.”
